Sugar Isle
Sugar Isle Golf Country, built in 1972 by renowned architect, Jack Kidwell, is an 18-hole par 72 public facility set upon a gently rolling terrain. The course, which plays up to 6,754 yards, features a combination of bent grass tees and greens with bluegrass fairways. Kidwell's design brings into play, water hazards, on more than half of the courses 18 holes and a total of 20 white sand bunkers. These obstacles along with several fairways lined with mature trees, blend with a degree of forgiveness to provide Sugar Isle with a layout that can offer a challenge to accomplished players while still maintaining an accessibility to golfers of all ages.
This facility, owned and operated by the Smart family since its inception, contains several amenities to enhance the golfer's experience including a pro shop, driving range and a large practice green. There is also a Pavilion Area that can accomodate up to 120 people that is free to use for groups hosting events at Sugar Isle, as well as a Banquet Facility that rents out for wedding receptions and other large events. For these reasons and countless others, Sugar Isle and its friendly and courteous staff, have been the right choice for Southern Ohio golfers for over 30 years serving as a home to three area high school programs, numerous outings, tournaments and more than one hundred members.
